What is a Squishy?
If you are scratching your head at that paragraph above you are not alone! I had no idea either until my kids went on and on about them!
Squishy toys are small toys in the shapes of animals, fruits, vegetables, etc that are made of soft polyurethane foam. They slowly return to their original shape after you squeeze them making them “squishy”.
The squishies I am using today are referred to as Mochi Squishies and they are made of a soft, non-toxic rubber material. There were squishy hearts, puppies, ducks, crocodiles, starfish, suns, a panda, rabbit, and more!

How to Make Squishy Valentine Cards
There are some super cute card options where you unwrap the squishy and attach it directly to the Valentine card. Being a realist, and also a mom of 3 boys so eminent mass destruction is always at the forefront of my mind.
It was adamantly decided the little squishy toys needed to be better protected so I made the cards as bag toppers! I feel they will make it to school, survive being passed out to classmates, and make it home with new friends more safely this way!
So let’s assemble the Printable Valentine Cards!
How to Make Squishy Valentines
Time needed: 15 minutes
Free printable Valentine Cards that feature a non-candy squishy toy. These DIY valentine cards make for a fun valentine’s day celebration for classroom valentines.
- Download & Print the Free Printable
Download the free printable below and then send it to your home printer to print. I recommend printing on 110lb cardstock.
- Cut out Valentine Cards
Using a paper trimmer or a pair of scissors, cut out Valentine’s Day Cards.
- Address the Valentines
Using a pen, pencil, or marker, your child can address the back of the cards using the to and from fields.
- Add Mochi Squishy into Cellophane Bag
I am using these 4×6 Clear treat bags. The squishy toys come in plastic wrappers and they just aren’t cute so I removed them from the icky bags and placed them into the nicer ones!
- Add The Topper Valentine Card
Fold the toppers in half along the grey guideline. Place the toppers over the open end of the cellophane bag and staple them in place.
These cute cards will ensure the best Valentine’s Day! Your child can pass out their own homemade valentine’s card to the entire class!
Notes about Squishy Valentines
- The squishy toys are rated on the box for ages 7 and up. I would say starting at Kindergarten, these would be appropriate but use your own discretion!
- These cute valentine’s day cards would not be good for toddlers or preschoolers. Even though they are non-toxic, they are small and the child could confuse them as edible and they could pose a choking hazard. I recommend choosing another adorable valentine cards from my collection more suitable for younger kiddos.
