I am LOVING that plaid is so trendy right now! I am also loving the fad of mixing non-traditional colors into classical holiday décor. Enter my modern rustic Thanksgiving Tablescape! I have been wanting to do something with this wood log plaque for some time and then when I went shopping at Jo-Ann’s and came across this awesome tangerine/turquoise/darker orange plaid material I knew exactly what I could use the log plaque for!
First I started off with the table runner. I whipped one together in no time pretty much with the exact same method as I shared before to sew a table runner.
For embellishment I used this great burlap and lace ribbon that I picked up while shopping! I’m loving how the rustic plaid in the modern colors is mixed with the rustic burlap with the dainty lace!
Next we will move onto my centerpiece! The thing that led to this tablescape! It actually started off really nicely. I picked up the wooden log plaque at Jo-Ann’s. It was located in the un-finished wood aisle near the other plaques! Once I knew I was using that glorious plaid fabric above, I knew I had to include some mason jar candles. What’s more rustic AND modern than mason jars? I headed over to the craft aisle and picked up a few turquoise mason jars! For the remainder of the jars, I simply used some jars I had around the house! I made some of the jars into fall leaf lanterns.
For one of the larger ones, I simply wrapped it with the same burlap & lace ribbon that I used on my table runner. I wanted to add some of the tangerine so I easily removed a label from a wine bottle and picked up some orange glass paint in the paint aisle. A few coats with a foam brush and I was set!
For my place settings I alternated burlap (which was on sale at Jo-Ann’s!) and tweed placemats and chose some fabulous turquoise solid and printed bandanas for napkins! The burlap placemats were a breeze…simply cut your burlap to size and weed away a few of the threads on each side! You can find out how to make my cute turkey napkin rings and place card settings too!
So next time you are looking for some fabulous home décor, don’t forget to head to your local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores to see what awesome décor you can create when you let yourself be inspired! They are certainly more than just fabric and crafts that’s for sure!!!!
