Easy Football Treats – Fun with Food
Chocolate Wafer Footballs
First up are these Football Chocolate Wafers. We all remember these as kids. These store-bought cookies came in the package with vanilla and strawberry options too! These days you can buy an all-chocolate pack!
A fun and delicious finger food dessert that we can turn into footballs in minutes.
What you need for Football Wafers
- Chocolate Wafer Cookies
- Decorating Tip #1
- Piping Bag or Ziploc Bag
- White Melting Wafers or White Icing
Now they sell them in packages of one flavor so I picked up a package of chocolate and with some melted bright white candy melts, and a #1 decorating tip and a piping bag, these football chocolate wafers were born!
TIPS FOR MELTING THE CHOCOLATE WAFERS
Grab a drinking glass and insert the piping bag or plastic baggie. Fold the bag around the edges of the glass to stay in place.
Add your melting chocolate wafers and microwave according to the directions on the package. I find 2 minutes to start is great and then increments of 30 seconds after that if needed. Carefully massage the plastic bag to melt the candies after microwaving! Now you have zero mess and a baggie full of icing to decorate!
Football Cookie Directions:
Lay the cookies out in a single layer. Snip the end of the piping bag and pipe or use a double bag system with a #1 decorating tip and add the laces to the middle of the cookies. Allow the chocolate to set and serve!
Chocolate Almond Footballs
Next, I picked up some of these amazing chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe’s. These are the real deal with 73% cacao in them. The minute you open the package you can smell the amazingness!
I picked out the ones that were the largest to use first. I may or may not have eaten some smaller ones. Natural selection at work {wink} Follow the same instructions as the Football Cookies above, and voila!
Football Snack Packs
Next up, a true childhood lunch favorite. Snack Packs. I picked up some fudge ones because they are the best ones, prove me wrong!
Remove the lids and add your laces! Here you can use the melting chocolates or even some store-bought canned white icing! Both options = yum!
Football Cookies
Last, but certainly not least…my good friend the Oreo Cookie. These cookies have seen me through good times and bad and now they come in Oreo Crisps so I can still indulge in them even on my diet for Jamaica! I picked the all-chocolate ones (chocolate filling) to keep them all brown. I don’t think it even matters! They will all be delicious!
Again, lay them flat and add the laces with melted white chocolate or icing.
