Making a DIY doormat has never been easier with this collection of 16 free doormat SVG files! Use these free doormat SVG files with your Cricut or Silhouette machine to create a personalized and funny doormat to welcome people into your home!
Back in the day, I created a Single Monogram Doormat for our last home! It was so much fun and lasted forever.
I used vinyl for this past project and because my monogram was one large cut, the vinyl peeled off the backing as a stencil and didn’t need to use transfer tape to apply. Once peeled off the backing paper, it can be placed firmly on the blank doormat. I painted the monogram stencil with black acrylic paint and a stippling brush.

For this fun project today, I am going to use the Freezer Paper Method for today’s DIY doormat tutorial. With this method, cut the doormat SVG in freezer paper using a Cricut or Silhouette as usual. Then to apply it to my doormat I will heat it with my EasyPress (or iron) and it will temporarily tack itself to the doormat turning it into a stencil!
From there you can paint as you would normally.
You can find a detailed tutorial for using Freezer Paper as a Doormat Stencil here from my good friend, Heidi at Happiness is Homemade as she made her Hello, sunshine doormat.
