This month’s TotallyFreeSVG blog hop is 8 Free Snowflake SVG files! For all of those who do not love the flurry white stuff, my Let It Snow Somewhere Else cut file is for you! I will take sand over snow, thank you! These free snowflake files are perfect for all your winter crafts!
We moved from the midwest to a small beach town on the coast of North Carolina and I am not missing the snow one single bit! In fact, this free SVG file was inspired by the lyrics of a Rory + Joey song. It expresses my sentiments entirely!

I am happy to ditch the cold, snowflakes, and a snowman for sand, waves, palm tree, and a frozen margarita on Christmas day! Say no to a sleigh and yes to a beach chair! That to me is the most wonderful time of year! If you are with me then let’s make a fun sign today!

Supplies for a Let it Snow Somewhere Else Sign:
There are several ways to make this sign! You can cut the saying from adhesive vinyl and apply to a premade wooden sign. Heat transfer or iron-on also works really well on wood and that can be a great option as well! Lastly, you can cut the design from stencil vinyl and paint the saying onto the sign! Here are some supplies you may need.
- Cutting Machine such as a Cricut Maker, Cricut Explore Air family, or Silhouette
- Stencil Vinyl
- Adhesive Vinyl
- Iron-on Vinyl
- Acrylic Paint and paintbrushes
- Weeding Hook
- Scraper tool
- EasyPress if using iron-on
- Transfer Tape if making a stencil or using adhesive vinyl.
- Square wooden sign
I chose to do the stencil method for this project. Here are some helpful tutorials that will help with your Let it Snow Somewhere else sign project.

How to Make a Sign
After uploading your design to your respective software, it’s time to cut the stencil vinyl. These in-depth tutorials can help you if you are not familiar with cutting vinyl.
After I cut the stencil vinyl I applied it to my sign using transfer tape. Then I used different shades of blue acrylic paint to paint in the open spaces.
TIP: Remove the stencil vinyl while the paint is still wet. Removing after the paint has dried has an increased risk of your design peeling with the vinyl while being removed.
If you ar using adhesive vinyl vs. stencil vinyl. Simply apply the vinyl to the sign using transfer tape. You can find my best tips for working with multiple colors of vinyl. Find more tutorials and Vinyl Projects on my Vinyl Page
