Do you remember back this summer I told you that I loved our water table that the boys had? Well I decided to bring that table inside and take advantage of our wall to wall tile floors! No, I didn’t fill it with water…I filled it with dry pasta noodles!
That’s right, ziti, rigatoni, egg noodles, farfalle and lasagna noodles. $5 at the dollar store!
Please take a moment to notice two things: 1. Ryan’s shirt and the number of hand prints on my oven. I really should clean that but it will just look like that in 20 minutes so I will wait until we move!
The boys had a great time sending the noodles down the spiral, in spinning them on the “ferris wheel” and driving their dump trucks and bull dozers through the noodles. We talked about the different types of noodles and how some were smooth, and some had ridges and some were straight on the ends and some were bumpy.
They buried matchbox cars and then dug them out.
I don’t like to tell my kids how to play as long as they are being safe. After they had played for quite a while, Ryan waddled over to the cabinet and pulled out some Tupperware on his own and began filling them. Michael joined right in and I offered some measuring cups to use also. Then the peaceful quiet began again…
Hear that? Angels singing!
I had it in my kitchen and was able to unload/load the dishwasher, clean all the counters, clean out the refrigerator and take out the trash WITHOUT ANY ASSISTANCE FROM RYAN OR A QUESTION FROM MICHAEL
I tell you…Angels singing for $5 at the dollar store!
To make it even better! They swept up the noodles that were on the floor! They thought it was “fun”! Now that I think about it, I should have bought a lottery ticket that day!
So try it once. You don’t need a fancy table, just use a Tupperware bin that you are storing toys in or an old box in your garage. Fill it up with noodles add a few toys and Wah-Lah! Quiet…with laughter!
Sometimes it doesn’t take fancy toys, just some basic household items and a little imagination from the kids!
I hope everyone is getting ready for tomorrow! I love Turkey Day!
