SPRING! Yay! Oh friends, can I tell you just how excited I am about nice weather?!? Instead of me telling you…let me SHOW you…
These three right here! We need to be outside!
If you have been around these parts for a while you will probably remember this DIY weekend Pergola we built a few years ago. We are outside people and we love to be outside! We had grand plans for this space.
Then life happened. Fred travelled for his job NONSTOP, I (somehow) got pregnant (amidst all his travelling), so we decided to focus our efforts INSIDE of our house. Then I had that sweet baby. Then I had to figure out how in the world to juggle three boys while never getting any sleep!
I am here to report that I still have no idea what I am doing with three boys, however we are now getting a *little* bit of sleep and we are FINALLY ready to tackle the outside of our home again! You take some you lose some right? {wink} Maybe my patio is not the only thing that is a work in progress!
So this space is a work in progress…and really slow progress at that. It pretty much looks exactly how I left it with you a few years back except now the bushes are a bit bigger, we had a few privacy trees that bit the dust after some heavy wet snows and we have added more kid’s crap.
It’s just not a very inviting space. We love to have friends over for dinner and drinks and let our kids play together while we get to sit and chat and this space just is not what I envision it to be in my head! {story of our lives, right} I am inspired by so many wonderful things in the HGTV Spring House!
Here are our hopes for the area:
- Comfortable seating so we can eat, watch the boys play and have friends over
- Would love a fire pit
- Need to add some color
- Would love some options to aid in entertaining like a outdoor cooler or drink station
- It all must be durable enough to withstand my three crazies pictured above
Some trends that I can totally get on board with are:
- Bright colors, especially teals and blues!
- Quirky accent tables
- Decorating with Plants (bright pots, complementing flowering plants)
- Making your outdoors and extension of your indoor
- Garden Statues
- Fun and Funky Outdoor Lighting
Get ready! I am shopping at At Home for everything I need to get this back patio in the perfect shape to invite some friends over and sit and drink adult beverages while our kids enjoy the beautiful weather!
