Happy First Day of Spring!!!
It’s finally, officially here! {Do you hear that Mother Nature?! The calendar says it is SPRING now so please start planning your weather accordingly!} In honor of April Showers bringing May Flowers, Claire from A Little Claireification is hosting a Spring Fling! I am super excited to be participating and sharing my DIY Flower Topiary!
Yesterday my sweet friend Jill from Create.Craft.Love shared this adorable washi tape owl. You all know how much I love washi tape! In honor of the May flowers that I hope are coming earlier than May, I thought I’d share this fun and simple flower topiary that will keep spring in your home all year round! The great thing about this project is that the flowers are interchangeable!
Supplies Needed for DIY Flower Topiary:
-
Pot of your liking
-
Foam Flower Insert
-
Fake Flowers
-
Knife
-
Scissors
Notes: I purchased this urn shaped pot from Jo-Ann Fabrics and used my 40% off coupon. The foam insert and fake flowers came from my Dollar Tree.
Start out by using a knife and carefully shaving your foam insert to fit the inside of your chosen pot. Also adjust the height. I left mine about 4 inches above the top of the pot. {I forgot to take a pictures of this before I started placing flowers so here is a shot of the bottom! Whoops!}
Next, cut your flowers from the bunch and then cut down to size. You might need a small pair of wire snippers if your fake flowers have wire stems. Stick the flowers into the foam insert creating a dome shape. Great thing is that if you don’t like the placement, you can just pluck it out and re-position the flowers! Continue until the pot is full of flowers. {I left the fake leaves on the bottom row and a few random stems in the topiary.}
You can then simply remove the whole domed flower part and replace with another foam insert and then use different flowers for the different seasons! You know I am a HUGE fan of multi-purpose crafts and décor!}
So tell me…is it “spring” yet in your neck of the woods???
